Elele is open to everyone from today. One app for village and hometown associations, apartment buildings and residential sites, animal welfare groups, sports clubs, associations and foundations, and volunteer groups: members, dues, cash, decisions, mutual aid and communication in one place.
This post is a short tour of the first release. Each heading links to the product page with the details.
Set up your community and choose its type
The community setup wizard starts by asking for the type: village association, apartment/residential site, animal welfare group, sports club, association/foundation or volunteer group. The default modules follow from that choice, and the app speaks your language — “neighbours” in a building, “athletes” in a sports club. Switch off the modules you don’t need; switching off never deletes data.
Membership and roles
Membership applications, admin approval and role-based permissions are there from day one. The treasurer sees the cash book, the auditor sees the ledger, and each member sees their own record and dues. One person can belong to several communities, and public communities can be discovered and take applications from outside. Details: Membership and roles.
Dues, receipts and accounting
- Dues plans are set by member type, period or flat; charges are posted automatically at the start of each period.
- Receipt numbers are issued by the server, so the sequence never breaks and two devices can never produce the same number.
- Double-entry ledger, cash and bank accounts, and recurring income and expense items.
- Members can pay dues online by card; the payment is recorded with a receipt, and bank transactions are matched to collections.
Details: Income, expenses, dues and receipts.
Boards and decisions
General assembly meetings, attendance lists (including proxies), a numbered resolution book and polls. A finalised resolution cannot be changed; corrections are made with a new resolution. Details: Boards and decisions.
Aid, tasks and projects
Aid requests are numbered, their budgets approved and their spending linked to the ledger; the recipient’s name is visible only to authorised roles. Tasks have an owner, a due date and a status, and a volunteer can pick up an open task. Details: Aid and needs management, Tasks and projects.
Communication
Feed, announcements, events, one-to-one messages and a notification centre. Each member manages their own notification preferences. Details: Feed, events and announcements, Messaging and notifications.
Reports
Income and expense summary, balance history, receivables and payables, trial balance and balance sheet, plus an activity report built from the year’s records. Personal fields are masked in reports shared with members. Details: Reports.
Offline and on every device
Records are written to the device first: you can enter collections, expenses and attendance without a connection, and they sync automatically when you are back online. The app installs on a phone’s home screen or a computer without an app store. Details: Offline work.
Personal data
Privacy notices, explicit consent, data requests, data export and account deletion are built into the app. When a member leaves, legal records such as receipts and resolutions are kept and their name is replaced with a pseudonym in those records.
Where to start
See the whole flow with a fictional village association in the demo, read how it works or go straight to creating your community. New releases and modules are published in this log under “Release notes”.
